چکیده

Two sorts of limbic system disorder have been found to combine in the causation of aggressive behavior. When recurrent hypoglycemia is added to temporal lobe EEC dysfunction, the result will probably include psychomotor disturbances which resemble temper tantrums. The hypoglycemic episodes can combine to kindle or lower the response threshold of dopamine receptors of the ergotropic sympathetic response system. It is proposed that one cause of this temporal lobe disorder is the anoxic damage which occurs during compression of the skull when labor is prolonged. This causes a herniation of the hippocampal gyrus and the major cerebral arteries under the tentorium cerebelli. The hippocampal formation has a particular probability for injury during this temporary obstruction of arterial blood supply. This area helps to regulate and control the amygdaloid nucleus. The amygdala has been shown to activate descending ergotropic response system pathways which stimulate fight or flight behavior. The hippocampal formation has a particular need

The Effect of Withania somnifera Alcoholic Extract on Learning and Memory Disturbance in a Model of Temporal Lobe Epilepsy in the Rat

Background and Objective: Temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) usually leads to memory deficit. In this study, we tried to assess the effect of Withania somnifera extract on the impaired learning and memory in the intrahippocampal kainate model of TLE in the rat. Materials & Methods: Male rats (n=32) were divided into sham, extract+sham, kainite, and kainite+extract. For induction of epilepsy, unilate...

The protective effect of carvacrol on kainic acid-induced model of temporal lobe epilepsy in male rat

Background and Objective: Temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) is a chronic neurological disorder with spontaneous recurrent seizures and abnormal intracranial waves. Since the role of oxidative stress in the occurrence of epilepsy is inevitable, it seems that the use of antioxidants can prevent some of the complications resulting from this disease. This study was designed to assess the protective effe...

Improvement of aggressive and antisocial behavior after resection of temporal lobe tumors.

Seizures associated with temporal lobe tumors may rarely manifest as episodic aggressive behavior. We describe 2 cases involving pediatric patients who presented with histories of unusually aggressive and antisocial behavior. Magnetic resonance imaging identified right mesial temporal lobe masses in both patients. After craniotomy for tumor removal, both patients were seizure-free and had marke...

The effect of agonist and antagonist of Nociceptine/Orphanin FQ receptor on seizure and cognitive dysfunction in experimental model of temporal lobe epilepsy in male rat

Background: Temporal lobe epilepsy is a chronic neurological disorder characterized by spontaneous seizures, learning and memory deficiency, loss of neurons, mossy fiber sprouting and tissue apoptosis. This study was to investigate the effect of NOP receptor agonist (MCOPPB) and antagonist (SB612111) on seizure and cognitive dysfunction and histological studies in experimental model of temporal...

Problematic Smartphone Use and Aggressive Behavior Among University Students: The Mediating role of Sleep Disturbance

Background: Despite a number of benefits, research has found that problematic smartphone use is positively associated with behavioral problems. However, the internal mechanisms underlying that relationship need further investigation. So, the aim of current study was to investigate the mediating role of sleep disturbance in the relationship between problematic smartphone use and aggression. Met...
